60- 90 minute Initial Assessment (required unless otherwise determined): $150.00
45-50 minute Psychotherapy Sessions: $135.00
30 minute Psychotherapy Sessions: $100.00

Ongoing psychotherapy typically occurs weekly for 45-50 minutes a session on a time and day agreed upon.

Clients are responsible for contacting insurance company to confirm benefits. Be mindful of any third party coverages. Client is financially responsible for any remaining balance that insurance does not cover.
Out Of Network Benefits
If your insurance is not listed above, Cedar Tree Empowerment Center (CTEC) is considered an out of network provider, which means that we do not bill your insurance company directly. Your counseling/therapy services may be eligible for reimbursement through out-of-network benefits, medical spending, or health care savings accounts. Health insurance plans and benefits vary. If you are interested in using your health insurance for services, please call your insurance provider to inquire about reimbursement for out-of-network counseling services.
Upon request, CTEC will provide you with a receipt at the end of each session, which you can then submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network coverage/reimbursement.
The following questions are helpful to determine your benefits:
- Does my health insurance plan include mental health benefits?
- Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it and have I met it yet?
- Does my plan limit how many sessions per calendar year I can have? If so, what is the limit?
- Do I need written approval from my primary care physician in order for services to be covered?
Why Consider Paying Privately or “Out of Pocket”?
In order to have therapy services covered under insurance, a mental health diagnosis must be made. This information then becomes a part of your permanent health care record. This may lead to limitations such as a denial of quality life insurance, specific occupations, or health insurance later on.
Many clients choose not to involve insurance companies in their mental health care. Their counseling is not limited by the diagnosis, treatment plan, or session limits that health insurance companies dictate. Insurance companies often limit the number of sessions and even the type of therapy. Many insurance companies do not cover couples/relational or family therapy. Additionally, since a mental health diagnosis must be made to obtain reimbursement, the insurance company often will request a significant amount of information about you in order to be covered. The insurance company can review all of your records at their discretion.
By paying privately or out of pocket, your records are exempt from insurance reporting. We are able to assure private pay clients the highest degree of privacy, flexibility, and control of their mental health record allowed by North Carolina state law. At Cedar Tree Empowerment Center, we work collaboratively with our clients to decide how often you should attend therapy, and you decide what you want to focus on. Many insurance companies require a deductible to be met before they start paying for mental health services.
CTEC accepts cash, check and all major credit cards as forms of payment. A major credit or debit card is required to remain on file. The last 4 digits of the card are seen in the electronic billing system; however, it will be linked to autosave and used to automatically draft payment. Full card number is not stored in client’s chart. It is the client’s responsibility to contact CTEC with updates to cards on file or changes to the payment agreement within 72 hours of your bill date. Services provided are non-refundable.
If you are unable to attend a session, please notify us within 48 hours of your session; otherwise, you may be charged the full rate of the session. If you do inform us of a cancellation within the expected time frame, you will be charged a non-refundable cancellation fee of $50.00 unless you reschedule your session. Because we understand that “life happens,” we will waive the first cancellation fee. A non refundable deposit may be required for some services at the time of scheduling.
