No matter how complex and sometimes challenging relationships are, we humans are all wired to connect. Believe it or not, we desire to connect with others in some capacity. We also heal quicker with social connections. People who are literally deprived of social connections tend to have poor overall health outcomes. Hence, joining one of our groups or workshops may be a great way for you to reap the benefits of a healthy outlet for connecting. Groups can be incredibly powerful! Now… we know it can be intimidating and even scary thinking about connecting with a group of strangers. Most scary things are worth facing to overcome. Join a group or workshop and find the value of doing things that scare you. Check out our offerings for group experiences. All groups and workshops are currently virtual.
For ongoing groups, the first session is determined to be a “trial” to ensure that it is a good fit for you. The group facilitator will support you with any helpful referrals to other opportunities to connect if it appears that the chosen group is not the best fit for you. So no worries, just come and face those fears.
Benefits of Group Therapy
- Groups can help you to learn more about yourself. It gives a sense of accountability and responsibility.
- Groups help you practice major socialization skills such as empathy, patience, active listening, and healthy engagement.
- Groups help you expand your perspective by learning about others experiencing similar pain points as you may be. It can be so meaningful and humbling to honor not only your experience but have the opportunity to value other’s experiences.
- Groups are less expensive than individual therapy. Although they are less expensive, they are not less efficient. All our groups are led by Licensed Clinicians who are passionate and skilled to foster a culture of healing and accomplishments of goals within their assigned group(s). Group therapy is not a substitute for individual therapy and can be an adjunct to other forms of therapy such as individual, marriage or family therapy.
- Groups reinforce that your narrative can only be told by you. Sharing can be another tool for healing. Not only do you listen to others, but you grow to share what you feel led to share which can be extremely powerful. Experiencing acceptance of yourself and others is another form of healing.
- Groups are supportive and reinforce that you are not alone no matter what you are experiencing. You are supported by group participants, and you are able to offer support to others. Giving and receiving is the key. This is what a healing community is all about.
- Groups help us cultivate hope and nurture our resiliency! Consistent participation, even if you choose to just listen, can reap optimum results.
