Denise Drew MS, LCMHC, is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor who works with individuals, groups, couples and families to overcome adverse symptoms to mental and emotional barriers to accomplishing a better quality of life. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Elizabeth City State University. She attended East Carolina University where she successfully received her North Carolina teaching licensure in Special Education. She holds a Master of Science Degree in Psychology with a specialization in Counseling Psychology from Capella University. Her career consists of over twenty years of experience working with individuals, children, families and couples with various mental health diagnoses. She provides evidence based modalities including but not limited to Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Her passion and motivation is helping individuals better manage and even overcome the adverse symptoms of mental illness. She works closely with Wellness Partners to foster a development that promotes a better quality of life. One of Denise’s favorite quotes is by the legendary Maya Angelou who stated that ” The best part of life is not just surviving, but thriving with passion and compassion and humor and style and generosity and kindness.” This quote summarizes the difference between simply existing and really living. Denise believes that serving others helps her fulfill her purpose and ultimately enables her to live a more enriching life in which she finds joy and comfort.
When she is not working with Wellness Partners, she enjoys spending time with her family, teaching and volunteering in her community.
